试谈如何培养学生的英语口语交际能力(转载)

  众所周知,语言的认知规律是听、说领先,读、写跟上。一个人从一出娘胎(甚至还在娘胎中)就开始倾听和分辩周围的各种声音了。到了呀呀学语时,就开始模仿周围的各种声音和语言。接着,他们开始接受学前教育,他们的父母和幼儿园的教师也会开始有意识地教他们学唱一些儿歌、背一些简单的古诗等,让他们感受有声语言的魅力。随着年龄的增长,他们到了上学的年龄。从这时起,他们在老师们的帮助下开始识字、写字,慢慢地他们就能阅读和写作了,从而最终获得综合运用语言的能力。当然,这是一个人对其母语(mother tongue)或第一语言(first language)的感知过程,而对于一个土生土长的中国学生来说,在学习英语这门外语时就不可能有这么完整而持久的感知过程,更不可能有那种让他们耳渲目染的语言认知环境。这就要求我们这些基础教育阶段的英语教师必须为我们的孩子们去积极创设一种认知和学习英语的环境。因此,如何培养和提高学生的英语口语交际能力是摆在我们每一个基础教育阶段的英语教师面前的一个重要课题。  下面本人就结合自己在从事农村英语教学教研过程中的一些实际,谈谈自己的一些拙见。  1. 农村中学英语口语教学存在的问题  1.1 在思想上对英语口语交际教学的重要性认识不够  由于我们现行的中考制度尚未把英语口试列为中考内容,所以,英语口语交际教学从一开始就未能得到足够的重视。长期以来,中学英语教学存在着许多弊端,特别是农村中学的英语教学,由于各种原因而偏重笔试成绩,教师在教学中抱着一种“急功近利”的思想,把教学的重点放在传授语言知识上,却忽视了语言能力的培养。教学方法陈旧,平时教学以教师为中心,一言堂的现象比比皆是,课堂气氛沉闷,缺乏具体、生动有趣的语言交际情景,使得学生学得索然无味。学生学的仍然是“哑吧英语”,初中毕业生学了三年英语后仍不会或不敢张口说英语,他们的英语口语交际能力几乎为零。《英语新课程标准》中所提出的目标要求在这里根本就无法实现。虽然中考英语试卷中有“口语运用”这一题型,但我认为,这对于提高学生的英语口语能力并不能起到实质性的作用,因为它毕竟只是口语交际的笔试题,而不是口试题。  1.2 学生的恐错心理是影响英语口语交际的一大心理障碍。  许多学生唯恐自己说错了会让人笑话,使自己很没面子。由于有了这种心理负担,他们在老师和同学面前不敢大胆地开口说英语。  1.3 教师的不合时宜和不正确的纠错方式与否定的情感反馈也会使学生产生惧怕心理,从而放弃进一步交际的愿望。  许多学生在初始年级(七年级)时对说英语是很感兴趣的,因为他们对说英语有一种好奇心,同时也有一种能用英语与老师、同学进行交际的愿望。然而,他们的这种愿望会因为教师的不合时宜或不正确的纠错方式以及否定的情感反馈而逐渐地消失殆尽。我这里说的“不合时宜的纠错方式”是指学生在口语交际过程中,教师未等学生把话说完,就指出学生口语中存在的错误,从而打断了学生交际的思路和延续性,也打击了学生的自信心;“不正确的纠错方式”是指教师在指正错误时的方法欠妥,缺乏让学生自觉感知到自己“说错了”的技巧;“否定的情感反馈”是指教师在纠错时容易以成年人思维和知识水平去简单、粗暴地评价学生的错误,如:我们经常会听到老师这样训斥学生:“这么简单的都不会,你学到哪里去了?”、“你真是榆木脑袋,笨死了。”、“ 鹦鹉还会学舌呢,你怎么就学不会呢?”等等一些讽刺、挖苦的语言,诸如此类的评价语言都是一种否定的情感反馈。这种否定的情感反馈不仅会极大地刺伤学生的自尊心,还会彻底地摧垮学生的自信心,甚至会把学生推向教学的对立面。   1.4 教师对一些话题的内容训练不到位,没有激发学生的兴趣,导致学生的热情不高,不能主动地参与到教学活动中来。  1.5 忽视课外语言交际环境的创建,学生缺乏课外训练口语交际的场所和机会。  上述种种都是制约学生提高英语口语交际能力的原因所在。因此,教师应在平时的教学过程中要认真分析情况,找到适合学生发展的教学策略。  2. 培养学生英语口语交际能力的教学策略  2.1 改变错误的思想观念,重视英语口语的教学  《英语新课程标准》的教学建议中指出“要面向全体学生,为学生全面发展和终身发展奠定基础。”这就要求我们教师必须摒弃那种“急功近利,只重视笔试,而忽视口语交际能力”的思想。我们应充分认识到我们要培养的是一种适应未来社会发展需要的高素质的人才,而不是那种高分低能的“考试机器”。语言教学的最终目标是为了交际,因此,我们必须充分认识培养学生英语口语交际能力的重要性和必要性。  2.2 立足课堂,努力创设语言情境,营造一个适宜学生开口的课堂教学环境。  《新英语课程标准》的教学建议中倡导“教师应自始至终关注学生的情感,努力营造宽松、民主、和谐的教学氛围。”英国的教育学家克鲁姆认为,“成功的课堂教学应在课内创造更多的情景,让学生有机会运用已学到的语言材料。”那么如何才能让学生积极参与到课堂教学中,自信、大胆地开口说英语呢?我认为可以从以下几个方面去尝试。  ⑴ 以“Duty report”的形式,在课前训练学生的口语表达能力  学生在初学英语时有一种强烈的新奇感和求知欲,但同时也总难免会有一种畏惧感,(表现在上课时不敢开口说,或者不敢大声地说,怕说不好或说错了,老师会责备他、同学会笑话他。)教师应抓住学生的这一矛盾心理,设法撬开学生的嘴,按照循序渐进的原则,由浅入深,由易到难地引领学生做好“Duty report”。  在七年级起始阶段,学生掌握的词汇少,但因学生初学英语,兴趣浓厚,这时教师应把握好时机,充分发挥学生的积极性,让每个学生都有机会说。为了便于做到这一点,七年级应以每日一句英语代替“Duty report”。要求全班每位同学都要准备好一、两句简单的对话内容在课堂上说。如:  A: How are you?  B: Fine, thank you, and you?  A: I’m fine, too.  C: Excuse me, what’s this in English?  D: It’s a ruler.  E: ……  F: ……  但要求学生必须快速、大声地说。就像李阳的“Crazy English”介绍的一样:不怕你说错,只怕你不说。因为内容简单,每个同学都会说,都敢说。对说英语声音响亮的同学,特别是一些平时羞于开口的同学,教师应多加给予下面的鼓励和积极的评价,哪怕是一个赞许的眼光,让学生尝到成功的喜悦,培养他们的成就感,从而产生进一步学好英语的内在驱动力。学生在“Duty report”中受到了表扬,有了成功的喜悦,就增加了学生的信心和兴趣,这样,慢慢地就撬开了学生的嘴,为以后的进一步交际奠定了基础。这样做的好处还有,能顾及到上课操练不到的学生,让每个学生都有表现的机会.也许有人会认为这很浪费时间,但实践表明,当学生习惯了这种做法后,这一步骤就成为每节课的 “Warming-up”了,并不会占用太多的时间,只须4-5分钟就行了。  随着词汇量的增加和英语知识水平的不断提高,可以鼓励学生不断地丰富“Duty report”的内容,结合新学课文和生活实际,增加报告的趣味性和实用性。如:在学了“Talking about the weather”这一语言功能项目后,就可以让学生在值日汇报中说说当天的天气情况,等等。为了使“Duty
